Woodway Family Center Youth Basketball
Basketball leagues are now forming at teh Woodway Family Center. Leagues are open to boys and girls in kindergarten through 6th grade. Cost is $70 for Woodway residents and $75 for nonresidents. Registration deadline is November 7th.

Ride Cameron Park
The City of Waco and Bicycles Outback invite women of all ages to take part in the annual Ride Cameron Park mountain bike clinic November 7th through 8th at the Northern Little League fields in Cameron Park.
The event is free and includes training sessions with professional mountain bikers, demonstrations, bike games and camping. Helmets and bikes are available on a limited basis or you may use your own.

2nd Chance Clothes
Keep Waco Beautiful’s “2nd Chance Clothes” project, designed to help clients at Compassion Ministries prepare to enter the workforce, will take place from November 1st through November 15th.
Keep Waco Beautiful is asking for gently worn business clothes to be dropped off at Compassion Ministries at 1412 Austin Avenue, during the hours of 9 a.m. To 4 p.m. Receipts will be given for tax deductions.
2nd Chance Clothes is a Texas Recycles day project to promote recycling and reuse. For more information, call Keep Waco Beautiful at 750-5728 or Compassion Ministries at 755-7640.

Veterans Day Parade
The City of Waco invites you to honor our soldiers at the annual Veterans Day Parade on November 11th at 11 a.m.
The parade -- which will be covered live on WCCC-TV Channel 10 -- will travel along Austin Avenue from 8th Street to Heritage Square. Local citizens are encouraged to line the parade route as we honor our soldiers for their dedicated service.
WCCC-TV will re-broadcast the parade in its entirety. A schedule with air times will be posted on the City of Waco website at www.waco-texas.com.

City Auction
The City of Waco Auction is scheduled for November 12th. About 4 times a year, the City posts retired city vehicles and equipment, police abandoned/ forfeiture items, jewelry, small tools and other items for sale on the rene bates internet auctioneering website.

Free Kids Computer Class
A free Kids' Computer Class for 3rd through 7th graders will be held at the Central Library, 1717 Austin Avenue, on Thursday, November 12th, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Friends Of The Library Book Sale
Avid readers and bargain shoppers won’t want to miss the 47th Annual Friends of the Library Book Sale, November 13th through 15th at the Heart of Texas Fairgrounds.
The sale begins Thursday November 13th from 10 a.m. To 9 p.m. The cost is $5 per adult the first day and children ages 14 and under are admitted for free. Admission is free for everyone the following three days.
Hours are 10 a.m. To 8 p.m. On Friday, 10 a.m. To 7 p.m. on Saturday, and from noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Saturday is Teacher Appreciation day from 2 to 6 p.m., And Sunday is H.E.B. Green Bag Day, where hardback and paperback books will be only $8 per bag, tax included, and Collector’s Corner items will be half-price.

Youth Basketball League
Registration continues through november 30 for the City of Waco Youth Basketball League. The cost is $300 for team registration and $45 for individuals ages 5 to 14 years.

Great Zoo Stampede
Cameron Park Zoo’s Annual Fun Run will be held Saturday, November 14th, at Cameron Park Zoo, followed by Wildlife Wonderland. The Great Zoo Stampede features a 10k, 5k and 1-mile run.
Races begin with the 1-mile run at 7:30 a.m., The 5k race at 8 a.m. And the 10k race at 9 a.m. Runners of all ages and abilities are invited to participate. All winners will receive medals.
Wildlife Wonderland starts right after the races from 10 a.m. To 2 p.m. and offers participants the opportunity to learn about animal enrichment toys and activities.

Brazos River & Trail Clean-Up Day
Keep Waco Beautiful and the City of Waco Parks and Recreation Department will host a Brazos River Clean Up on Saturday, November 21st, from 1 p.m. To 4 p.m. Registration is at 12:30 p.m. At Bledsoe-Miller Park, 300 MLK Blvd.
Volunteers will help clean the Brazos River shoreline. Gloves, trashbags and trash pickers will be provided. Patches are available for participating Camp Fire USA members, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.

Waco Parks & Recreation Holiday Camps
Registration is underway for the City of Waco Parks & Recreation Holiday Camps. South Waco, Bledsoe-Miller and Dewey Community Centers are offering holiday cmaps for kids ages 5 to 13 years from 7:30 a.m. To 5:30 p.m. during the holiday breaks.
Thanksgiving Camp is November 25, and registration is $10 per child. Winter Camp is offered December 21st to January 4th, and registration is $60 per child.
Children will take part in crafts, recreational activities and field trips. Camps will provide snacks, but campers must bring a sack lunch.

Holiday on the Square
Bring the family downtown for Keep Waco Beautiful's annual Holiday on the Square. The Jingle Bell Run, sponsored by the Arthritis Foundation, registration begins at 4 pm in Heritage Square. Runners and walkers can participate in costume in a 5k or 1 mile run or walk along the historic Brazos River. Children can dash around the “North Pole” in the Santa Shuffle. Costumes, strollers, and dogs are encouraged. Prizes, trophies and awards will be given to individuals and teams that raise the most money, have the best costume, and run the best times.
Following the run, join the festivities including children’s holiday crafts with the Cultural Arts Fest group, Christmas tales presented by the Story Tellers Guild, music from local school groups, pictures with Santa, children’s Christmas movies, barrel train rides, a snowball throw, bounce houses and much more.
At 8pm, Keep Waco Beautiful will sponsor the 29th annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony, which will feature the 25-foot reusable tree, donated to the city by Keep Waco Beautiful. Mayor DuPuy will flip the giant switch that illuminates the tree.
Snacks and drinks will be available in the Square.
