Driver Education Class

Three DVD instruction courses entitled, "Driver Education: The Rules of the Road, Impaired Driving: DWI can Equal DOA" and "Drinking and Driving: the End of the Road", have been purchased from Educational Video Network for use in the library. These courses include an instruction period with a short exam to follow. Starting on June 6, these will be offered each Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m , at the South Waco Library, 2737 S. 18th St. These courses are being offered as a supplement to any instruction students may get elsewhere.

COLLECTIONS

The collection has been developing with a steady flow of new books, audio books, DVD's, and videos. The Spanish language collection has taken on new life with the addition of fresh new materials in all areas. The Spanish-speaking patrons have particularly enjoyed the over 200 videos, many of which were produced in Mexico.

GED AND ESL CLASSES

The library partners with MCC Adult Education Department to offer both ESL and GED (English as a Second Language and General Education Diploma) classes on Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. For further information please call 750-8621

GENERAL INFORMATION

The South Waco Library is located at 2737 S. 18th St. in the same building as the South Waco Community Center. The doors opened in 1975 to serve the predominantly Hispanic population of Waco as well as the people of southeastern McLennan County. It offers a full range of services, which includes, reference, reader's advisory and children's programs. During the school year these programs take place on Friday mornings at 10 a.m. Summer programs are offered on Fridays at 10:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

COMPUTER ACCESS

There are 11 public-use computers that provide access to Word, Excel, Power Point, the Internet and a number of other programs. These computers can be reserved for one hour per person each day. Two of them are dedicated solely to the use of small children and have educational programs installed. Two others are Spanish language oriented for those who speak little or no English.
