The annual Coretta Scott King Award, presented by theAmerican Library Association, honors authors and illustrators of African descent whose books promote an understanding and appreciation of the "American Dream". The award honors Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his widow, Coretta Scott King, in their work for peace and world brotherhood.
