New Database
The Genealogy Division at the Waco-McLennan County Library
has added a new database to help McLennan County's Swedish-Americans
discover their roots -- genline : Swedish Church Records Online
. Currently, this digital image database of Swedish church records from
the 16th-20th century has over 10 million records. Records consist of
birth/baptismal, confirmation, marriage, death/burial, church ledgers
and household examination rolls. Bill Buckner, manager of the Periodicals/Genealogy
Division, states, "By having Genline as a resource, the library is providing
a valuable tool to the Swedish-Americans in the community that will
enable them to discover their past and preserve their heritage."
This commitment to service and heritage is shared by The
Nordic Clubs of Waco (Scandinavian Friends, Forsgard-Olson Vasa Lodge
#757, Forsgard-Olson Heritage Society, and Sons of Norway, Canuteson-Reierson
Lodge #1-660.) who have enthusiastically supported the addition of Genline
to the Library's resources. For more information, call Bill Buckner
at 254/750-5945. The Nordic Clubs of Waco are located at 1028 N. 4th
St., Waco, Texas 254/296-1857.
