The Friends of the Waco McLennan County Library are caring citizens who believe in the concept of a public library that is open to all and who realize that a free library system cannot survive without supplementary funding and volunteers. The Friends organization exists to improve the quality of life in the community through its support of the Waco-McLennan County Library System.

For more information on joining Friends or to volunteer, call (254) 750-5974.

How do the Friends Allocate Funds?

The Friends Board of Directors determines how funds will be spent. Proposals are presented to and voted upon by the Board. Recent projects funded by the Friends included:

  • Performers for the Children's Summer Programs
  • $25,000 for books and other materials for all four libraries
  • Sponsorship of One Book, One Waco
  • Furniture and Equipment at all four libraries
