How do I become a "Firefighter" for the City of Waco ?
The City of Waco hires only pre-service trained firefighters. Applicants are hired based on the results of a Civil Service Exam. They must also meet certain requirements, some of which are 18 to 36 years of age, high school diploma or GED, excellent health, vision of at least 20/100 correctable to 20/20 in each eye, no felony convictions, a good driving record, and other requirements of the Civil Service Commission.

Open outdoor burning is prohibited in the city limits. Under some circumstances construction contractors, certain institutions or government agencies are allowed to burn. Contact the Fire Marshal's office at (254) 750-1740.
Does the Fire Department provide ambulance service?
The city contracts for ambulance service with East Texas Medical Center - EMS. The Waco Fire Department provides First Responder service to medical and rescue emergencies.
