Joe M.
Mayfield, P.E.
Joe M. Mayfield has been employed with the City of Waco
since 1974. He was appointed as Assistant City Manager on November
14, 2006. He previously served as the Director of Public Works.
He has also served as the Director of Engineering and as a city
engineer during his employment with the City of Waco.
As assistant city manager, Mayfield oversees the following
departments:
- Engineering / GIS
- Traffic
- Streets
- Solid Waste
- Planning
- Building Inspection
- Code Enforcement
Mayfield received his bachelor's degree from the School
of Civil Engineering at Lamar University.
Prior to coming to Waco, Mayfield worked for the City
of Ft. Worth and for a consulting engineering firm in Houston.
Mayfield served as the president of the Central Texas
branch of the Texas Public Works Association in 1981,and president
of the Central Texas branch of the American Society of Civil Engineers
in 1992.
He was named the Texas Public Works Leader of the Year
in 1992, and the TSPE Engineer of the Year by the Central Texas
branch in 2005.
Mayfield and his wife, Cheryl have two children and
two grandchildren.
