by City Council Districts

The Waco City Council elections will be held on May 9 this year.

Election for the positions of Mayor (At-large), District I and District III are held in even numbered years and Districts II, IV, and V are held in odd numbered years.

The Council is composed of six (6) Council Members each of whom, unless sooner removed under the provisions of this Charter, shall serve for two (2) year terms or until their successor has been elected and duly qualified (Charter City of Waco, Texas - Article II. Section 2).

The council member elected at-large shall serve as the Mayor. The Mayor shall serve no more than three two-year terms. At a meeting following each regular election of Council Members, the Council shall by election designate one (1) of its members as Mayor Pro Tem who shall serve in absence of the Mayor (Charter City of Waco, Texas - Article II. Section 8).

2009 ELECTION FILING DATES

First day to file for city council: Saturday, February 7, 2009
(City Hall is closed - 1st day to file in person is Monday, February 9, 2009)

Last day to file for city council: Monday, March 9, 2009

Early Voting for City Election

2009 Election Date: Saturday, May 9, 2009
Time: 7:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M.

Thursday, April 9, 2009 is the last day
for submitting voter registration applications for the May 9, 2009 election.

The early voting dates and times are as follows:

April 27 - May 1 (8 am - 5 pm)
May 2, 4, 5 (7 am - 7 pm)
