Construction Permits

The Inspection Services Department issues permits for all new construction and remodeling projects. Before permits can be issued for plumbing, electrical, and mechanical work, the contractor must be registered with our office. Contractors must show proof of license for mechanical, plumbing, and irrigation work. Electrical contractors can reciprocate their license, if they hold a current master license in one of the cities in which the city of Waco holds a reciprocal agreement.

This list is available below. If the contractor does not hold a license with one of the reciprocal cities, we can still issue a license if they have taken the Block and Associates or the SBCCI exam. Please contact Cathy Groppe at 254-750-5614 for additional information regarding electrical licenses. The City of Waco does not require general contractors to be licensed or bonded.
