  • Summer 2008: Review of schematic plans and budget finalization
  • Fall 2008: Finalizing construction plans
  • Fall 2008: Develop plans for alternate site during construction
  • October 2008: Soil sample taken in preparation for construction.

April 21, 2008: Concepts presented at Public Meeting
January 2008:  Staff and design firms hold first planning meetings.
Fall 2007: Ron Hobbs Architects selected as design firm
May 12, 2007: Voters approve $11.7 for Park Improvements

Project Description

The South Waco Recreation Center, 2815 Speight, provides recreational and educational programs for all ages and serves as a community-gathering place.

The center will receive $1.8 million in renovations to better serve the community.

Improvements will be made in the following areas:

  • Circulation
  • Fitness and dance rooms
  • Multi-purpose meeting space
  • Aesthetics

The center will also be expanding into the space that previously housed the South Waco Library. The recreation center will be closed during the time of the construction. However, the center’s programming will continue at alternate locations.
