New Waco Police Facility Relocation and Renovation

Status as of:

June 30, 2009 - The closing date on the purchase of the Hillcrest Medical Tower (including the parking garage) is scheduled for January 2010. The contract is awaiting final approval and it expected to be signed shortly. The Wallace Group has been selected to provide an architectural and engineering design to renovate the structures(s). Contract negotiation is underway and it is expected to be signed shortly. After it is signed, it is projected that it will take aproximately 30 weeks to complete the design and construction bidding phases.

April 8, 2009 - The closing date on the purchase of the Hillcrest Medical Tower (incuding the parking garage) is scheduled for mid-Fall 2009 with renovation to begin by the end of 2009.  Our earliest estimation of completion for the entire project is late 2010.

February 25, 2009 -  The City’s acquisition of the Hillcrest Tower is being finalized.  Six design firms submitted proposals for the project and City staff is nearing completion of the selection process.

April 22, 2008 - The Police Department and city staff are currently developing a Request For Proposal (RFP) for firms to submit proposals for the architectural and engineering design to renovate what is currently known as the Hillcrest Medical Tower for the relocation of our police department.  Our commitment is to design and maintain a facility that meets the needs of the City and our visitors, is customer-focused, attractive, efficient, clean, safe and accessible to all citizens.

January 2008 - Negotiation between Hillcrest and the City of Waco resumed and the contract for purchase is being finalized.

October 2007- Negotiations to purchase Hillcrest Medical Tower were placed on hold in October 2007 to allow another potential bidder to present their plans for the building.
