Effective October 1, 2008 there is a $1 shipping fee
for each non-photocopy interlibrary loan request.
Interlibrary Loan Policy
Can't find the book you need at our library? Don't
worry, we can still help!
Through an arrangement with other libraries nationwide,
we can access materials not currently available in our collection.
Under the Interlibrary Loan Program, we can often
locate unusual or out of print items for your use. The process
can take from two to four weeks.
There is a $1 shipping fee for each non-photocopy
interlibrary loan request that is due when the item is checked-out.
The fee is assessed even if the item is not picked-up by the patron.
There is no fee if the request is unfilled from a lending library.
Requests for Interlibrary Loan materials may
be made
at any of the Waco-McLennan County libraries,
by phoning the Reference Desk at (254) 750-5944, or by using the
online form.
- Please provide as much information about the item as possible.
The more information we can supply about what you want, the
faster it can be found.
- When your item arrives, you will be notified by phone.
- Please pick up your item as soon as possible. After 10 days
the item will be returned to the lending library if it has
not been claimed.
- Books and audiobooks check out for three weeks and can be
renewed once. DVDs and Videos check out for one week and may
not be renewed.
Unfortunately, not everything is available through Interlibrary
Loan. For example, most books, especially bestsellers, are not
available until they have been out at least six months. Other
materials that are difficult to obtain are sound and video recordings,
complete periodicals and genealogical publications, however many
libraries will make photocopies of articles at no charge.
Staff at the Reference desk will be more than happy
to help you find what you are looking for!
